Idli with milagai podi( gun powder or Idli Podi ) is a very traditional and classic combination.
The crunchy and spicy milagai podi compliments the soft and bland idli.
Milagai Podi is rich in protein as it is basically made of chana dal( kadalai paruppu) and urad dal( ullundhu).
Carbohydrates from the idli and protein from the milagai podi makes recipe ideal for breakfast.
Podi is mixed sesame oil and Idli is marinated in this mixture. This makes Podi Idli a good option to carry during long travel.
Small idlis ( button idlis)- 20 pieces
Milagai Podi- 2 tbsps
Sesame Idli- 1 tbsp
Melted ghee- 1 tbsp
Grated coconut- 2 tbsps
Chopped coriander- 1 tbsp
Mix idlis, milagai podi, sesame oil and melted ghee well.
Garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves and serve immedietly:)
