Mango Poha

If you are bored of making the regular Poha Upma, then you should check this recipe. I had made this once few months back. Usually I add grated carrots to poha upma to make it more healthier and colourful. That day, I didn’t have carrots. I had some left over grated raw mango. So, I just added that and nads the upma. And thank God, it came out very well and my family loved it.

Today, I it again for breakfast. My family enjoyed the spicy, chatpata mango poha upma very much. Hope you all would like it too:)

Ingredients

Poha ( rice flakes/ Aval) – 2+1/2 cups
Finely chopped onions – 1+1/2 cups
Grated raw mango – 1 cup
Green chillies – 4-5
Curry leaves – few
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard – 1 tsp
Split urad dal ( black gram/ullundhu)- 2 tsps
Chana dal ( Bengal gram/ kadala paruppu)- 2 tsps
Turmeric powder ( haldi/ manja podi) – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsps
Sev or mixture – 2 tbsps

Method

Wash the poha well and soak it in little water for 10-15 mins. Gently fluff it and keep it aside.

Wash and chop green chillies and curry leaves.

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard. When it starts spluttering, add urad dal, chana dal, green chillies and curry leaves. Sauté for few seconds and then add the chopped onions. Sauté till the onions turn slightly golden. Add the turmeric powder and salt to taste and continue to sauté for a min.

Add the poha and mix well. Check for the seasonings. Cook for few mins and then add the grated raw mango ( reserve some for garnishing). Mix again and sauté for a min.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, grated mango and sev/ mixture and serve the poha hot:)
