Corn Rava Khichidi

It’s raining heavily in Chennai. Schools were declared as a holiday today.

First I thought of making hot puris and aloo rus for breakfast. Then changed my mind and made this new, wholesome and yummy corn rava khichdi.

The khichdi was very colourful, full of flavour and absolutely yummy. My kids feasted on the hot khichdi:)

Chopped tomatoes – 1 cup
Green chillies slit – 2
Curry leaves – few

Method

Wash and soak moong dal for 30 mins.

Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard. When it starts spluttering, add urad dal, chana dal, hing and curry leaves. Sauté for few seconds and then add the chopped onions.

Sauté till the onions turn pink. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and cumin powder. Mix well and sauté for few seconds. Add the corn rava and continue to sauté for a min.

Now add the soaked moong dal, boiled corn, salt to taste and 3+1/2 cups of water. Mix well. Check for the seasonings. When the water starts to boil, close the pressure cooker. Reduce the flame and cook for 1 whistle.

Open the cooker after the steam subsides completely. Add 1 tbsp of ghee and mix well.

Serve the khichdi hot with yogurt or raita:)
