Simple Lunch Menu 6

Today, I had planned to go on a shopping spree with my sisters. I made a simple lunch as I had to leave home early. Though it is simple, it is certainly interesting and wholesome:)

Spicy mixed dal





Peanut Chikkis ( store bought)

Tuvar dal – 1/2 cup

Chana dal – 1/4th cup

Tomatoes – 2

Sambar powder – 11/2 tsps

Ghee – 1 tsp

Cumin seeds( jeera) – 1 tsp

Asafoetida( hing) – a pinch

Salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbsp

Wash and soak both the dals together for half an hour. Drain the water in which it was soaked. Add fresh water.

Pressure cook the dal for 4-5 whistles till its cooked very soft.

Heat ghee in a pan. Add jeera. When it starts spluttering, add the chopped tomatoes and sauté for few mins. Add the sambar powder, salt to taste and hing and sauté till the tomatoes becomes soft. Add it to the cooked dal and mix well. Add one cup of water, mix again and check for the seasonings. Simmer the dal for few mins, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice .
