Paneer Bhurji is a very popular North Indian dish. It’s a very delicious dish that can be made in a jiffy. Soft crumbled paneer is cooked with onion, tomatoes and spices. It’s a dry dish which can be served along with roti, paratha, bread or dosa.
Few days back, I had made this dish for lunch. It came out really well and all of us at home enjoyed this delicious bhurji with hot ragi phulkas 🙂
Ingredients
Crumbled paneer – 1+1/2 cups
Onion – 1
Tomatoes – 3
Green chillies – 1
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4th tsp
Red chilli powder – 3/4th tsp
Coriander powder ( dhania)- 1 tsp
Cumin powder ( jeera)- 1 tsp
Garam masala powder- 1/4th tsp
Kasoori methi ( dried fenugreek leaves)- 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsps
Method
Peel, wash and chop onion finely.
Wash and chop tomatoes finely.
Wash and finely chop the green chilli.
Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds. When it starts crackling, add the chopped green chilli. Sauté for a sec and then add the finely chopped onion. Sauté till it turns pink.
Add the finely chopped tomatoes. Sauté for few seconds. Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt to taste. Sauté till the tomatoes becomes soft.
Add the crumbled paneer and mix well. Add garam masala powder and kasoori methi. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for few mins.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve the bhurji hot with phulkas/ parathas/ bread/ dosa 🙂
Note
Paneer Bhurji can be used as stuffing to make paneer sandwich.
It can be used as stuffing to make paneer masala dosa.
