I had planned to make carrot and cheese stuffed paratha for my kids tiffin today. I generally add ragi flour or soya flour to the atta( whole wheat flour) to make it more healthier. Both was not there today. So, I used oats. My kids do not like oats porridge. I have made oats Idli and dosa but not paratha.
When I started rolling the dough into circles for paratha, I got this idea to make it as square rotis and use the stuffing to make as a sandwich. With a tiny bit of extra effort, I made a new, healthy and wholesome sandwich 🙂
Ingredients
Whole wheat flour- 1 cup
Oats- 1/2 cup
Melted ghee- 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Water- little less than 1/2 cup
Butter – 2 tsps
Grated carrots- 1 cup
Amul cheese spread – 1/2 cup
Method
In a bowl, add flour, oats, melted ghee and salt to taste. Mix well. Add water and knead to a stiff dough.
Rest for 30 mins.
Divide the dough into 8 portions.
Take 1 portion, roll into circle.
Cut of the corners to give a square shape. Repeat the same with all portions.
Cook the rotis on both sides till light brown spots appear.
Spread some cheese spread on one roti, top with some grated carrots. Close it with another roti.
One sandwich is ready now.
Prepare all the sandwiches.
Heat a tawa. Add little butter. Grill the sandwiches both sides, till it become golden brown.
Looks delicious! Anu, you are so inspiring. Thanks for sharing the recipe
