Capsicum Oats Rava Idli

Oats rava idli is one of the healthy breakfast that can be made in a jiffy. I make this regularly at home. I keep trying many variations with the basic recipe and every time it comes out well. Few weeks back, I made Capsicum oats rava idli. I had added purée of capsicum, coriander leaves and mint leaves to the basic recipe. The light green coloured idlis were looking very beautiful. It was very soft, with a delicate capsicum flavour and very tasty indeed. Everyone loved it at home:)
Capsicum is rich in fibre, vitamin C, vitamin A , B vitamins ( B6) and anti oxidants . It is astringent in nature and hence good for gastrointestinal problems.

Rava( semolina)- 3/4th cup
Oats- 3/4th cup
Green capsicum- 2
Coriander leaves- 1/2 cup
Mint leaves – 1/4th cup
Yogurt- 1 and 1/4thcup
Oil- 2tbsp
Mustard- 1 tsp
Urad dal- 1 tsp
Chana dal- 1 tsp
Hing- 1/4 th tsp
Cooking soda- 1/8th tsp
Salt to taste
Wash and chop capsicum. Grind together capsicum, coriander and mint leaves to make a smooth purée.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add mustard. When it starts spluttering, add urad dal, chana dal and hing.Sauté till the dal becomes golden.
Switch off the gas. Add rava and oats and mix well. Add the capsicum purée and mix well again.
Now add well beaten yogurt to this and mix well. Let it rest for 10 mins.
Heat water in a steamer. Grease Idli plates and keep it ready.
Once the water starts steaming, add cooking soda to the batter and mix well. Batter will become light and frothy.
Pour the batter into greased Idli plates and steam for 12-15 mins or till done.
Transfer to a serving plate and serve hot with hot, spicy sambar or chutney:)
